    The bacteriological analysis determines if the water is potable. The water\u2019s condition may appear very poor in terms of color, odor and\/or visible deposits, but it may still be potable. When purchasing a house with a well, the bank will ask your notary to include a water potability certificate in your file. Afterwards, an annual analysis will ensure that the water remains potable.     The physico-chemical analysis determines if water needs to be treated for certain minerals that are detrimental to its proper domestic use. Many buyers of homes with wells undertake a physico-chemical analysis in order to better negotiate the initial offer.
